Help Nida Fight: A Journey of Courage and Hope

Donation protected
Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Whoever relieves a Muslim of a burden from the burdens of the world, Allah will relieve him of a burden from the burdens on the Day of Judgement. And whoever helps ease a difficulty in the world, Allah will grant him ease from a difficulty in the world and in the Hereafter. And whoever covers (the faults of) a Muslim, Allah will cover (his faults) for him in the world and the Hereafter. And Allah is engaged in helping the worshipper as long as the worshipper is engaged in helping his brother.”
-Tirmidhi

Assalamualaikum everyone, this Ramadan, amidst a time of reflection, kindness, and community, I bring to you the story of my sister Nida Kidwai—a vibrant soul, faced with an unexpected battle. Almost four months ago, Nida's life took a dramatic turn when she was diagnosed with Post-Infectious Transverse Myelitis, a rare inflammation of the spinal cord. This condition has left her paralyzed from the neck down, dependent on a tracheostomy/ventilator to breathe, unable to swallow, and fighting for her life.

Post Infectious Transverse Myelitis interrupts the messages that the spinal cord nerves send throughout the body causing pain, muscle weakness, paralysis, sensory problems, and Nida's case also difficulty breathing. The doctors have stated that in a case like hers, she could take 1-2 years to fully recover granted she is provided vital therapies frequently in the best facilities near us.

Nida's journey has been nothing short of a rollercoaster, moving from hospital to hospital, seeking not just treatments but hope. Despite the overwhelming challenges, her spirit remains unbroken. But this fight is not hers to battle alone. We are calling on the kindness and generosity of our community this Ramadan to support Nida in her time of need.

Your donations will go directly towards Nida's:
  • Things that she will be needing at hospital/nursing homes that will make her journey more comfortable(i.e. compression boots, medical creams, pillows, braces, etc)
  • rehabilitation(physical, occupational, and speech therapies)
  • Personal caregiver that will provide her with daily support
  • necessary adjustments to her home to ensure it's a supportive environment for her recovery.

Every penny brings her one step closer to regaining her independence and, God willing, her ability to walk, talk, stand, and live her life to the fullest once again.

Let's come together to light up Nida's path to recovery with hope, love, and the generosity that defines this blessed month of Ramadan. No contribution is too small; your support means the world to us. Nida is a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and teacher to many. We can't to wait to see her healthy again.

"Indeed, those who practice charity have their own reward with their Lord..." (Quran 2:274). Let's be a part of Nida's recovery, a beacon of hope and kindness in her darkest hours.

Thank you for your generosity and prayers.
