Hi there, my name is Nicole. A few months ago my family and I unfortunately lost our apt we had for almost 4 years. We are currently living in a motel while we wait for housing to open up. I have a full time job while my partner is a stay at home dad. Despite me having a full time job, and my family and I being on food stamps, I am struggling hard to keep a float. Due to new laws since the pandemic we can only stay for 25 nights, and then we have to leave for 24 hrs before we can return. Also after so many days of staying in the motel the taxes and fees disappear. But they restart when our 25 days are up. The rates also change throughout the year. Summer just started so rates are starting to go up substantially. We have had some help a long the way and are extremely grateful for it. But unfortunately we need more help. 80% of my paycheck every 2 weeks goes directly to paying for our room. The other 20% goes to food (when we run out of our benefits for the month) and other essentials. Unfortunately my paychecks don't even come close to covering a week at the motel. I am in over my head. I'm just asking for a little help, so I can catch up and continue to keep a roof over my family's and my head, and hopefully put some $ aside to go towards new housing for us.
