Brand new mom, Nicole Body is undergoing major surgery to remove cancer from her body. Please join us in prayer and financial giving to support Nicole, her husband, Wes, and their baby girl, Aurora!
Nicole is no stranger to cancer. She is the "Sparkly Survivor". It is a truly fitting name for the woman who sparkles and radiates both inside and out. If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting Nicole, you are truly missing out. I don't think Nicole has ever met a stranger. She loves other so well. She is the kindest, warmest, most beautiful woman. God's love shines brightly through her and you can feel it when you are in her presence. She is strong, loving, and definitely Sparkly!
Nicole will be having surgery in August to remove the cancer that has crept back in. After beating sarcoma in 2017, she was re-diagnosed in June 2021. This time Nicole will be undergoing a Whipple Procedure to remove the sarcoma that is lurking near her pancreas for good. However, this surgery is incredibly complex, and will have an extremely long recovery time.
For those who don't know, a Whipple procedure — also known as a pancreaticoduodenectomy — is a complex operation to remove the head of the pancreas, the first part of the small intestine (duodenum), the gallbladder and the bile duct. In addition, Nicole will also have part of her stomach and colon removed. It is an entire reroute of your digestive system. Recovery usually takes 3-4 months. During that time patients are not able to move themselves as their incision covers most of the torso. Patients are only allowed a very strict liquid diet, and are prone to developing diabetes. It can easily be said that the recovery is just as difficult as the surgery.
Recovery for Nicole will look different than most as she a new mom. Previous cancer treatments left her with low odds of ever carrying a child, but the Lord has blessed Nicole and Wes with the most perfect little princess, Aurora. She is only 3 months old. Nicole will be unable to hold, feed, bathe, burp, and cuddle her brand new baby for 3-4 months. Both Nicole and Aurora will need full time care for several months. While Wes certainly is a super dad, he will need a lot of help- especially when he returns to work.
The list of costs associated with this journey are nearly endless but include:
Medical Bills
Hotel expenses for Wes and Aurora during Nicole's surgery and hospital stay
At home medical equipment
In home care for Nicole
Babysitting for Aurora
Respite care for Wes
Specialty meals for Nicole
Formula for Aurora
Meals for Wes
The list goes on....
Thank you for your giving of prayer and financial aid to this incredible family!
