Help Nicole recover from emergency surgery

Hi, my name is Liz and I am a former co-worker/friend of Nicole. This go fund me is on behalf of the request of her husband George Gonzales who made the 911 call on Sunday evening as Nicole had been experiencing abdominal pain that only worsened. She was admitted and underwent emergency surgery for a perforated bowel with ischemic bowel. She was very much septic upon her admission to the hospital. I visited Nicole in the hospital this week on Tuesday. As nurses/healthcare professionals, it's hard to comprehend that you or someone you know or care about could end up in a hospital bed severely ill like the patients we have taken care of in our time as nurses. Nicole was intubated, sedated, and on pressors and in critical care. Her medical team is still trying to work up the cause of her ascending transverse ischemic bowel. Her abdomen was left open post surgery and a wound vac was applied. Nicole was taken back to surgery last night on 3/8 where; surgeons were able to successfully lavage and close her abdomen. She will have 2 ostomies in place with another surgery in the future for reversal. At this time, the hope is to get Nicole extubated this morning of 3/9.

I met with her mother yesterday at her bedside and we tearfully exchanged hellos and told Nicole she will get through this as she momentarily opened eyes through the sedation. Nicole's recovery is most important going forward and she will need friends and family to come to her aide.
