Help Nicole Overcome Medical Hurdles

Hello, my name is Brandy Larimore Melendy, and I am starting this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend, Nicole (Novak) Goodwin, who has been currently facing serious health issues, since August she has been primarily bedridden, in severe pain, and discomfort.

Though the doctors have not yet found the root cause of her illness one contributing factor they believe is her Gallbladder, which also has polyps at the size where they can become cancerous. They would like to remove it immediately to bring her some relief from many of her other symptoms.  

In addition, her inherited heart health has significantly worsened. She now has two 40% heart blockages, under her new coverage the only medication that has helped her lower her cholesterol to under 300 has been continually denied for coverage. She must continue this fight with her medical on appeals, which requires three additional expensive tests which her doctors hope will get the denial overturned and get her back on the medication to work on reversing the blockages and bringing her cholesterol down from 414 currently.  In addition, if it is not lowered enough she will be eligible for a new clinical trial in Dallas, but must take these steps first to get approved.  

Over the past year, Nicole has endured multiple hospital visits and expensive medical tests that have drained her physically and financially.  

Shortly after becoming ill, she and her team were laid off and her access to affordable healthcare became nonexistent. New coverage is $1200 monthly with high deductibles & out-of-pocket expenses along with co-pays.

Despite these hardships, Nicole quickly secured a new job, but it came with a significant pay cut. This has made it extremely difficult for her to manage her medical expenses and recover financially. The cost of the surgery and continued tests and physical therapy are beyond her current means, and without this procedure, Nicole's health continues to be at serious risk.
