Help Nicole & Mitch with Medical Expenses
Donation protected
On the evening of Saturday, October 16, my son, Mitch woke up to a loud bang, it was his girlfriend, Nicole, fainting. She banged her head and went into epileptic shock and then her heart stopped and she stopped breathing. Mitch called 911 and started performing CPR until the ambulance arrived and they took over. They worked on her for about 20 minutes until they finally got a pulse. Apparently Mitch's quick thinking and the fact that he knew CPR saved Nicole's life.
Nicole was taken to the University of Alberta hospital and stayed in the ICU until the 19 and then was transferred to the cardiac unit when she was stable. Turns out she had a heart arrhythmia. The specialists figured out that she has an underlying condition that she didn't know about called low QT syndrome. They will be inserting an ICD (defibrillator) next week. It will jump start her heart if that ever happens again. We have learned that this is a hereditary syndrome.
This will be a long road of recovery for Nicole and a lot of adjustments for their little family. Close family and friends have been doing what we can to help with the little ones and their pup so they can concentrate on getting Nicole what she needs.
Mitch and Nicole's sister, Kim have both taken time off work and have been spending every moment that they can with Nicole. With this sudden interruption in Mitch and Nicole's lives, it is going to take a toll on their finances. Neither of them have benefits, so medical costs will also add up. The extra gas, parking and meals is another added expense. On top of all that, there will need to be family counseling as this was a traumatic event that all of them went through, including their son, Peyton, who witnessed Mitch saving his Mama's life.
Any contribution you can make to help Nicole, Mitch and their little family would be greatly appreciated! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
