Help Nicole & Jordy after their home was flooded

Dear Friends and family of Nicky & Jordy,

 

I have started a Go Fund Me to help both of them. I grew up with Nicole in Sydney, and we both went to school together. Both Nicky and Jordy, her son, have just been through the horrendous flooding in Northern New South Wales and Queensland. They, fortunately, escaped to safety. Unfortunately returning home, they found their home, car and belongings destroyed or damaged. The Australian Government has not provided support for many areas - such as their community in Mullumbimby. Which adds a layer of extra trauma on top of what the flooding caused. The community is strong and are supporting on each other and the kindness of friends and volunteers. Jordy's school has also been damaged.

 

This has all happened on top of a two-year-long pandemic. So it is all magnified by the pandemic, the floods and little government support. As you all might know, Nicky is a single mum. Everything raised goes straight to her and Jordy. I just offered to set up the page for her. Please help if you can.

Dear family and friends.

 

Jordy and I have just been through a major flood, intact. An unprecedented flood.

It has been a devastating and heart retching and humbling experience.

 

Jordy and I had to be picked up by a large fishing boat at 8am, that came down our driveway to our front door. That in itself was so bizzare and scary.

 

We were told to leave our house and were dropped off in waist high flood waters .

 

Jordy was amazing throughout, my guy.❤

 

We then walked for 2 kilometres through flood waters to a refugee to try to find a safe zone.

 

It was not pretty. Everyone and their pets were there. I felt the need to get Jordy and myself out of there as they couldn't even provide a dry towel.

 

We were fortunate enough to eventually be. able to make it to a friend's house when the tides lowered, and the flood levels dropped with the help of 2 separate cars, that got through the flood water.

 

Next morning we returned to my home to be so blessed that the main living area was not water damaged.

 

However, all my storage from under my house, everything in my garage, including my car, which is covered by insurance. are ruined.

 

I have lost all of my photos from dad and mum, so many sentimental irreplaceable things.

 

Our hearts are hurting.

 

Today we did a massive clean up, I couldn't even go through half of the stuff bc it was to hard.

 

My car is a right off, my garage/ bottom part of my home. needs re building, I need to replace washing machine, dryer, fridge, TV, , heaters,air conditioning units,a multitude of small goods like Jordy's football gear, soccer gear, swimming gear, basketball gear. Our Bikes, camping gear , stored winter clothing. The list goes on.

 

My pride, for the first time has been smothered. We need help.

 

With much graciousness and humility, I am asking my family to please support us in any way they can.

 

Our home and contents insurance won't assist because we didn't have flood insurance, as it would have been an extra $200 per week that I , as a single mother just could not afford.

 

 

With so much love and humility, if you can donate anything towards us getting back on our feet , we would be so grateful, it has been assessed that to re build and replace items, get electricians, plumbers etc is estimated to be around $ 15,000.

 

I'm not sure how this works?

 

Above all, and what is most important, Jordy and I are safe.

 

It has been like being in a movie.... Jordy wax amazing, I'm so proud of him.

I feel for all of the people who have lost everything.
