Hello everyone, my name is Nicole and I’m a proud Milton Hershey School Class of 2013 alumna. I’m also a single mother to my amazing 10-year-old daughter,
Back in July, I was forced to quit my job abruptly while starting immunotherapy treatment for newly diagnosed Crohn’s disease. The treatments took a heavy toll on my body, with being in such a major flare and I began experiencing intestinal bleeding during bowel movements just as I was preparing to return to work. My doctor made it clear that if I wanted to heal, I needed to remove as much stress as possible from my life. So, I did what I had to do listened, stepped back, and focused on healing. Now, I’ve just completed my final round of at-home infusions, and I finally feel like myself again. My energy is coming back, my spirit is stronger, and I’m ready to move forward. But the reality is, quitting my job so suddenly left me buried in debt. I didn’t qualify for short- or long-term disability, and I’ve completely exhausted my savings and maxed out my credit cards trying to stay afloat. I’m actively job hunting, but as any single parent knows, it’s not easy especially when you don’t have a village to help with childcare or scheduling. I’m also working through some legal matters separately, and I want to be transparent that none of the funds I’m seeking will go toward that. This is simply to help me get back on my feet, rebuild stability for my daughter and me, and take the next steps toward a better life beyond this chapter. I never thought I’d be in this position needing to ask for help but I know that God reminds us: closed mouths don’t get fed. It’s human to need help sometimes, and it’s okay to ask for it. If you’re able to contribute, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you can’t give financially, your prayers, guidance, or sharing this privately with someone who might help mean just as much. My goal is to get back on my feet, rebuild my life, and pay it forward in every way possible once I’m stable again. I’d also love to reconnect with old friends, mentors, and teachers. It’s been 10 years since I’ve had a real village, and I’m ready to build one again. Thank you all for taking the time to read my story and for any way you choose to support me.
With love and gratitude,
Nicole
