Help Nicole Cover Emergency Expenses
Hi, my name is Ember. I am Pagan clergy in the SF Bay Area. In May, my friend Nicole and I helped another Pagan friend of ours out of a very tight spot. Our friend was living with an abusive and neglectful partner who was putting her health and safety at risk. (The friend’s name and image are being withheld for privacy and safety concerns. The cover photo is of me. Attached are images of Nicole.)
We would have done this fundraising before moving our friend, but the situation suddenly became urgent. With some planning and minor financial help from mutual friends, we got our friend out of there, and she is now safe and sound.
But because of the urgency, and lack of time to fundraise preemptively, Nicole covered most of the bill -and it was a large bill indeed- severely depleting their own finances. Floating it was a service to the community, and Nicole was initially reluctant to say anything, but covering those costs is putting them in danger of their own crisis!
I am asking us, as a community, to come together to relieve Nicole of this burden; a burden which should have fallen to us collectively, and would have, had we had more time to arrange everything. We are initially raising a more modest sum of $2400 to cover the last leg of the trip: a move across several states with two adult humans, and two pets, in a rental car. That's money Nicole definitely could not afford to spend!
Ideally, we'd like to cover the full cost involved (travel, food, and lodging for Nicole, our friend, and the friend’s pets), which was $6200; after existing contributions. If we are lucky enough to raise more than $6200, all overflow will go to our friend, who still needs help: settling into her new home, getting new IDs, health insurance, etc.
If you can help, please do, even if it is just to spread the word. This is not an expense any one person should have to bear!
