Hello! I’m Nicole Knickel and I am a junior viola performance student at UWEC!
I recently was accepted into the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, which a month-long summer camp for talented students to work with professors from around the country. There, I would work with a chamber group, put on concerts, and connect with faculty that could potentially be my future mentor as I look for graduate school programs. I will be working with Susan Dubois from the University of North Texas and Hyobi Sim from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
The pricing is nearly $6000, and I received no scholarships. As there has been a job loss in the family, we are in a tight financial situation to pay this much out of pocket. Half of the tuition is due April 1st and the other half on May 1st.
I hope to continue school and eventually have a masters in Viola performance. I will go on to finish a PhD track in music theory, and hopefully teaching music theory full-time at the collegiate level.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that is extremely important in my field to do every summer. I would be forever grateful to anyone who donates any amount of money to help my cause!
Here is what I look like doing what I love!
