Help Nicolas Through His Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
**4/8 UPDATE** Nicolas has started round 2 of chemo. Yesterday he had the chemo port inserted and we bounced back and forth between Brighams and Dana Farber for appointments until he was admitted. We received some encouraging updates. The cancer marker HCG was initially reported at 184000mlu/mL, yesterday was 740.6mlu/mL. Hallelujah. I believe that means we are trending the right way.

*3/21 UPDATE** Nicolas is home following 5 days at Brighams and Womens. He handled everything that's been thrown at him like a true champion, I absolutely admire his quiet strength. He's not complained once through-out this. I'm beyond proud. He has the most God awful heartburn, some dizziness, weakness and fatigue. I pray daily that this be the worst he'll experience, but they painted a fairly accurate picture of possibilities to come. Thank you everyone for the shares, words of encouragement and the mind blowing donations. Let's keep this going! We love you

Hello everyone.

The past 3 weeks have been a complete and utter nightmare. As a parent, you never want to see your child get sick... but then to hear it's CANCER - I'm gutted. My kid is 21, what do you mean cancer?! Nicolas has been diagnosed with Stage 3A Choriocarcinoma which has metastasized in his lungs. He's got several tumors, some sized just under 6cm (about the size of an egg).

Nicolas has to receive 4 chemo sessions (each lasting 5 days) with 3 weeks in between each on an in-patient basis at Brigham and Women's, under the care of Dana Farber. During this time, the doctor has advised against Nicolas being exposed to too many people due to his risk of infection. He thought initially he could work the off weeks, but the doctor has advised against this. Nicolas will be out of work for 16+ weeks. He just started working, so he has some PFML, but he's only worked since July; it's a nominal amount. The last thing he needs to stress about is his financial well-being, yet that's what he's doing. He's completely against this because he feels like a charity case, but I told him people will help if they want to, and sometimes it takes a village to help through the dark times. As his mom, I'll do all I can to assist him, but I'll be limited. If you care enough to help, it's greatly appreciated. We understand if you can't and ask simply that you maybe hit the share button.

Thank you for your consideration.
