Not long ago, I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes — a condition that changes your life instantly and requires constant management. While I was still learning how to live with it, I suffered a sudden hypoglycemic episode and lost consciousness behind the wheel. In just a few seconds, everything changed. The crash involved multiple vehicles and left me with serious injuries, including a broken ankle and fractured ribs. Doctors have told me I’m facing a minimum recovery period of four months, during which I’m unable to work. On top of the physical pain, the accident resulted in overwhelming medical bills, extensive vehicle damage, and the total loss of my car. Because the accident involved multiple vehicles, my insurance liability coverage is unfortunately not sufficient to cover all of the damages and injuries involved. This has left me facing significant out-of-pocket expenses at a time when I have no income and am focused on healing. Living with Type 1 diabetes has been frightening and overwhelming, especially now. This experience has forced me to confront how fragile life can be and how quickly everything you’ve worked for can disappear. It’s also reminded me how important it is to hold onto the things that give life meaning. For me, that purpose has always been cars. As a young mechanic and lifelong car enthusiast I didn’t have financial support — every step forward came from my own hard work, long hours, and sacrifice. My vehicle wasn’t just transportation; it was the heart of my automotive content, the centerpiece of my social media brand, and the foundation of a dream I was actively building. Losing the car didn’t just take away a project — it took away my creative outlet, my momentum, and the future I was working toward. Now, while recovering from my injuries and learning how to manage a lifelong medical condition, I’m struggling to keep up with medical bills, rent, and basic living expenses — all without the ability to work.
