Nico Konecny, the USA National Mountain Bike XCO Junior Champion, was selected to race with Team USA in Europe. But during the first race in Austria, disaster struck. After a brutal crash, Nico face-planted into a rock, knocking out several teeth, fracturing his jaw, and cracking other teeth.

Thanks to the excellent emergency care provided by Team USA, Nico received immediate attention and was able to return home last week. However, the road to recovery is going to be daunting. Despite having purchased spot insurance and travel insurance to complement their medical insurance, the Konecny family is facing a staggering $45,000 in dental work, including multiple dental implants to replace Nico's missing teeth.
