Hi, we are Carlos & Priscila, Nico’s parents.
Nico is a brave and joyful 4-year-old boy on the autism spectrum and a cardiac warrior. From the moment he was born, he has been fighting and inspiring us every single day.
At birth, Nico developed pneumonia after aspirating fluid and spent five days in the NICU. At just two years old, he underwent open-heart surgery. Today, he is a happy little boy, but autism brings challenges that can make the world overwhelming and sometimes unsafe for him.
Nico’s dad is currently in Army training, and during this time, mom is caring for Nico and managing his therapies. Having a professionally trained autism service dog would be a tremendous support for our family, especially while his dad is serving and training.
We recently learned how autism service dogs can help with safety, anxiety, emotional regulation, sleep, and independence.
After speaking with a specialized trainer in North Carolina, we found the perfect program for Nico. However, the cost of a fully trained service dog is $17,300, which is beyond what our family can afford on our own.
This dog will not be just a pet. He will be Nico’s companion, protector, and part of our family, helping him feel safe, calm, and confident as he grows.
We are humbly asking for your support. Every donation will go directly toward bringing Nico his service dog. If you are unable to donate, sharing our story means the world to us.
Thank you for being part of Nico’s journey and for helping our little warrior thrive.
With love and gratitude,
Figueroa Family
This dog will not just be a pet. He will be Nico’s safety, comfort, and independence, and a member of our family. Thank you for helping our little warrior thrive.
