Mid-Atlantic Orioles, Glen Allen, Bethlehem and RVA baseball communities (and beyond)—
One of our very own families needs our support so they can focus on Nicky’s health and daily treatments, after she was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive metastatic cancer.
Nicky Bass is a loving partner to the love of her life, Cabell Staples, a wonderful dog mom to two busy pups, a loyal friend to all she comes in contact with, and a dedicated baseball mom to her pride and joy, Chase (Staples, 10) who, until now, never missed a travel OR rec practice or game.
As an adventure racer and health enthusiast, the diagnosis was a shock. Unfortunately, symptoms from Nicky’s illness caused her to lose her corporate job prior to her diagnosis. Not only are they now a single-income household, but they are also without benefits, including health insurance. Additionally, Cabell is self-employed and has had to cut his hours significantly for daily appointments, caretaking, and managing the household, making money tight, and putting Chase’s school enrollment and their family home at risk.
To make matters worse, Cabell’s truck was recently involved in an accident, and the family now has only one old, unreliable car with little means to fix it, an issue that makes getting to much-needed appointments a big challenge.
Let’s show Nicky, Cabell, and Chase just how much they mean to us through financial support so they can focus on Nicky’s care and spending time together. Every little bit — and every share — helps and is greatly appreciated… as are all thoughts and prayers you can send their way.

Nicky, Cabell and Chase, you have a team of support behind you and a community who cares. We love you and are here for you!
