Help Nick's recovery: Hemorrhagic Stroke
Donation protected
Nicholas Resler, 23 year old student at Chico State, suffered a Hemorrhagic stroke, which required emergency brain surgery.
On November 9, 2021 Nicholas began experiencing a very bad headache, to the point where 911 was called. He was rushed to the local hospital, where imaging ultimately revealed the presence of a large 5-7 cm left temporal lobe intracerebral hemorrhage. He was immediately airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center where his mother, Julie Snider-Butcher and father, Larry Resler was by his side. The next morning, a craniotomy was performed to evacuate the bleed. He remained in the hospital for 9 days. We are grateful the surgeons were successful but there was extensive damage to his brain. Nicholas is home now but requires 24 hour supervision and extensive care. As a result of the traumatic brain injury (TBI), his road to recovery is long and extensive. He requires unique diagnostic and therapeutic services. Due to the extent of the trauma, he requires skilled intervention to address visual, physical and cognitive deficits to reduce the risk of re-injury and/or re-hospitalization. He is having to re-learn simple things like elementary math and word finding. His current reading and writing level is that of a 9 year old.
Prior to the stroke, Nicholas was in his last year at Chico State, studying Media Arts Design Technology and had just got a job working for the college filming sporting events, while preparing for his future. He was excited to graduate, get a job and begin paying off his student loans.
We are starting this go fund me to support Nicholas' medical expenses while he recovers. Future expenses are uncertain - any funds collected over what is needed will be donated to a very good cause.
Any amount you give is appreciated and will go a long way to lighten the financial burden for the family. Your support, love and prayers are greatly appreciated! Please help spread the word.
With love,
Nicholas Resler's Family
