Help Nickerson Family Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
On June 8th, around 11 am, the homes of beloved Wheeling community members Harland Nickerson, Bill Nickerson, Cyndee Hennessey-Nickerson, and Cory Hennessey-Nickerson caught on fire. All of their personal belongings have been lost in the fire and the damage sustained to their homes is extensive and they are deemed unsalvageable.
Harland, 96, is a widower and Korean war veteran who has called this place his home for over 30 years and this home has been in the family for over 50 years. Harland’s Son, Bill Nickerson, lives with him in the home as his caretaker. Harland is a father to 7 children and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren who have all lived and loved together in this home. Harland’s oldest child, Cyndee Hennessey-Nickerson and her son Cory Hennessey-Nickerson live next door and their home took a brunt of the damage.
Through his life Harland has given back to the Wheeling community as a faithful church goer and was a school district employee for countless years. In times like these we must come together as a community to help those who have helped us.
While money can not bring back the house where so many beautiful memories were made, it can help get them back on their feet so they can begin to rebuild what was so tragically torn away from them.
The money raised will go to helping get the four of them ($5,000/each) set up in a new home and replacing their personal belongings such as clothing, furniture, etc.
We as the Nickerson family truly thank each and every single one of you for your contributions; every little bit helps and again we thank you for your generosity.
