Thank you to everybody who contributed to help buy some of Nick's medicine last week. It's not an exagerration to say that your generous donations have kept him alive, and he and his wife are extremely grateful for that. However, they still need support in their struggle. For those who aren't in the loop, Nicholas Price is a 30-year old man from Texas, who's been suffering from disseminated sporotrichosis. This is a fungal infection with a very grim prognosis, and he's been suffering from it for almost 5 years now. He's unable to work, and the State of Texas is currently denying his disability claims. His wife works in retail, but her take-home pay simply isn't enough to cover their needs, especially given Nick's illness. It also bears mentioning that Nick and his wife have already sold practically everything they own, even down to both of their cars (an '07 Mustang GT and a '15 Ford Escape).

We've set up this fundraiser to get Nick and his wife through the coming month. Specifically, we've set it up to cover the 3 major expenses that can't be met off of their current income: medicine, gasoline, and food. These expenses are estimated to be about $2900 in total for the month.

For the month, Nick's medicine is expected to cost around $2100. Their gas (covering rides to the hospital, his wife's work, and Church) is expected to be $400. The reason their gas costs so much is because they live in a pretty rural area - Nick has to go twice a week to a hospital that's 85 miles from his home, and his father in law's 2004 pickup truck (the only vehicle they have access to) gets only 15 miles per gallon. Their food (even including the freebies they're able to find at food pantries) is expected to be about $400.

As we said in the previous fundraiser, the chronic effects of this illness over the years have left Nick and his wife isolated from reliable support. That's why they're soliciting help from kind strangers to help them through this difficult time. They're really really grateful to all the people who've helped, but especially so to all the Orthodox Christians who've stepped up to show him some Christlike generosity through this hard time. Nick has recently found comfort in the Orthodox faith, and he wishes to tell the people reading this of the joy he's found in Christ.
