Our good friend and journalist Nick Stern recently had his car stolen. Unfortunately, he only carried third-party insurance, which does not cover theft.

Inside the vehicle were many of the essential tools Nick relies on to safely document protests and breaking events across Los Angeles, including:

• Ballistic Vest — $400

• Ballistic Helmet — $250

• Bump Helmet — $50

• Gas Mask — $40

• GoPro Hero 12 — $370

• Child Seat — $250

• Various Camera Brackets & Gear — $250

In addition to the stolen equipment, the vehicle itself was worth approximately $6,000.

Altogether, Nick is facing a loss of more than $7,600.

Nick has spent years documenting important moments in our communities, often putting himself in difficult and dangerous situations to make sure stories are seen and heard. We’re hoping the community can come together to help him replace what was taken and get back on his feet.
