Hello, my name is Nick Kremenek and I am a freelance illustrator based in Southern California. Like many artists, this last year has been tough for me and is only getting tougher. The rampant use of AI Art programs have made job openings for artists harder to find while the cost of living seems to keep going up. One of the big sources of income for me is going to pop culture and comic conventions to sell my art face-to-face. But because money is so tight right now, I find myself unable to go to one of the biggest conventions in the area this year: WonderCon.
I have had a table at WonderCon the last 2 years and it has helped me keep a roof over my head. I have my table space reserved for this year, but I find myself unable to pay for the space. Being able to sell my art at WonderCon can make a huge difference in being able to stay afloat for a little while. So I am humbly asking for your help in order to make this a reality.
The money I am asking for is to help pay for the booth space and a hotel nearby. Anything extra would go towards my food and gas, and maybe even the ability to make a special art piece for the event itself.
It has also been suggested that if you have Hilton Honors points that you can donate, that can help pay for the hotel literally next to the Anaheim Convention Center (as an alternative if money is not an option).
I do realize that times are tough for many of us right now, but anything you can help contribute would be absolutely amazing! And if you can't donate, sharing my GoFundMe and helping me spread the word would be truly appreciated.
