Help Nick Fight Cancer- STEM cell transplant
Donation protected
Last year, on January 21st, 2021, Nick Jacob was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and has been battling it ever since. Now, Nick is classified as Stage 4 refractory, which means he hasn’t responded to treatment in the way that most cases in young adults do. He is in the process of a STEM cell treatment to create a new immune system from a gracious donor. He has high hopes that this will help him build a stronger immune system to help destroy the disease. This treatment is a grueling, expensive, and a time-consuming process. It will extend over 90 days where he will be traveling to and from Johns Hopkins daily. He has already been admitted to the hospital a few times since the STEM cell transplant because it essentially dwindles the immune system to nothing, and builds a new one from scratch.
Nick is a 24-year-old alumni from Salisbury University class of 2019. Since graduating with a bachelor’s in business economics, he had been working in IT recruitment, but due to this disease he has since take a hiatus from working. Nick has remained optimistic throughout his treatment, and he is not going to give up. Nick initially seemed to make a decent recovery after his initial chemo treatments. He had joined a Volvo kickball league, gotten back into the gym, and had spent time with his friends & family. Nick is a kindhearted, sweet, and funny person who positively impacts people around him. He has a great sense of humor and is in very good spirits about his diagnosis. Nick has a way about him where he is a positive light and has an electric energy, even in his darkest times. I know he is in good hands with the physicians that are taking care of him at Hopkins, and he and the entire Jacobs family would appreciate any donation.
With battling his cancer, we don’t want Nick to have to worry about any financial burden so he can focus his energy on healing and recovery. As you can imagine, medical treatment and hospitalization costs will take a great financial toll on the Jacob's. The Jacob family is asking for support through this tremendously difficult time. All donations will assist with treatment costs, and anything exceeding medical costs will be donated to the Lymphoma Research Foundation. We cannot thank everyone enough for any contribution to help Nick.
