Help Nick Buy Back His Stolen Car

Hi! I am Katie Luna, Nick's mom. Long story short- Nick is 24 years old and has saved his money and bought, what he thought was a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, only to find out that the car was stolen and his money, GONE. He took the title to the courthouse to get it changed into his name and they told him it was a bad title. The Carfax had been pulled and was clean. The car is beautiful and in pristine condition. The seller had a convincing story for selling, and Nick bought it. All VINs were changed to match the stolen title, so everything looked legit. Nick was able to find one spot under the car where an original VIN was still intact. $35,000 in hard earned cash to a con artist. Nick immediately went to the Dallas Police Department and they told him that it was low priority and he would most likely never see his money again. We have, thankfully been able to locate the original owner (who has already been paid out by insurance) and he has helped us tremendously. Insurance will pick up the car and the hope is that Nick will be able to purchase the car back from the salvage yard.

A little history on how Nick has earned so much money- Nick started his own lawn mowing business at 13. By the time he was 15, he had saved enough money to buy an inexpensive daily driver truck AND a 1988 Foxbody Mustang GT. He was the only 16 yo that we knew that owned 2 vehicles. Since then, he continued to work, save, and flip cars. His most recent sale was that 1988 Mustang and his 2002 Corvette Z06. He used the proceeds of these sales and his hard work & savings to buy this stolen Corvette.
