Those of you that know Nick Moreno know that he is the most selfless and loving individual, an amazing uncle, brother, and son, and would do anything to make someone smile. Nick lost his brother Art to COVID-19 last year, his father a year prior, and his mother three years prior. To say it has been hard is an understatement. However, Nick has remained employed the entirety of the pandemic, but unfortunately came into some trouble a few months ago. A few months ago, Nick was admitted nearly-septic to Houston Methodist, as his forearm fistula (which is used 3x weekly at dialysis for the last 10 years), became infected. Nick has end-stage renal failure and immediately was taken into surgery for a central-line catheter so he could continue dialysis. This surgery and the risk of infection, coupled with a week in the hospital, meant he missed work for an entire month. Additionally, Social Security cutoff Nick over a year ago for supposedly overpayment (still an ongoing battle) and with that, his Medicare was also cancelled. Most of you know that Texas has been very poorly managed regarding the pandemic and Nick’s apartment complex is resuming evictions on October 3rd and Nick is being threatened to be dropped by DaVita Dialysis as a patient. As Nick is currently behind about $3,000, we are starting this GoFundMe for $2,100 which will all ensure Nick can stay in his apartment until his lease is up in March. Nick did not ask for a GoFundMe, but this is truly a last resort. He delivers for Papa Johns and Uber Eats 6 out of 7 days a week, and tips have been low to non-existent. Anything helps, but we understand that many are struggling right now and just ask that you share this far and wide.
