TLDR if you have a hard time reading a lot due to disability reasons: I am severely sick with moderate ME/CFS and sleeping on a couch. I can't afford food or disability needs, and my minimum monthly goal is 160 bucks. I am grateful for everything you guys do even if it's just encouragement!

FULL IN DEPTH VERSION:

Hello, my name is Nick and I am a 21-year-old trans man with ME/CFS.
Most people don't want to read a whole sob story (sadly since I'd like to share my story.) so here are the bullet points:

  • I am too sick to work or go to the doctor. Due to this I do not yet have enough of a medical record for the government to believe that I am not making this up.
  • I have been homeless since I aged out of foster care at 18. I have no family or anyone who can take care of me. I temporarily live with two friends who are also disabled and I sleep on a couch.
  • If I recover enough, I will try to get into college to be a translator/interpreter and hopefully be able to work with non-profits and coordinating care for people who are in the situation I am currently in. This would mean I could have income, but I need to recover before I can get to this point and recovery means I need to be able to afford my expenses which are as follows:
  • 30 bucks for my phone bill so when I am able to go to the doctor, I can schedule an appointment and receive calls back. I can fend off of 30 bucks a week for food, but more would mean I can afford food that is easier to digest and take when I'm bedridden. I would like to be able to have 50-10 bucks for disability related needs such as meds, urgent care co-pays and I also like to try help with my roommates' bills since they don't make me pay rent so I'm living with them for free. That would mean I can make living off $160 bucks a month (not including random uber fees when I need to go to the E.R). That is a pretty reasonable goal I feel like to achieve monthly.

Thank you guys for all you do, I know my friends who cannot afford to donate but can share this fundraiser are reading this and I want you to know you are greatly appreciated. The disabled community has been such a huge support for me and has shown up time and time again to make sure I have a space to speak and food to eat. I cannot thank you enough. I am writing this on ME/CFS awareness month, so whether you are reading this in May or not, make sure to stay educated on ME/CFS and educate others when and if you are able!
