Help Nichole Recover from Surgery
Hi, I'm Hali and I'm fundraising for my dear friend Nichole. On July 11th Nichole had a wake-surfing accident. It was believed that she had partially torn her hamstring and that surgery was probable. She was put on crutches and told to wait for an MRI. After 5 weeks of waiting, Nichole finally underwent surgery to reattach her hamstring and it was discovered that the repair needed was much more extensive than previously thought. Rather than a partial tear to her tendon, Nichole's hamstring had completely severed and retracted deep into her leg. For six weeks she is 100% non-weight bearing, on crutches and in a brace that keeps her from straightening or bending her leg so that the incredible handy work of Dr. Beim heals successfully. As soon as Nichole recovers from this difficult surgery, she will go almost straight into surgery for her chronic pain disease (a surgery that was supposed to take place in August but had to be postponed for obvious reasons).
As most of you know, Nichole is also a single mother to her very sweet son (a highly active toddler), Cobin, making this entire unfortunate situation even more problematic. For the next few weeks, Nichole and Cobin are staying at her parents house while she recovers and so that both mother and son are well cared for but Nichole will be returning home and needs additional help - both financial and physical.
Nichole has been unable to work at Camp 4 for two months already and will continue to be completely unable to work for some time (it's hard to be everyone's favorite barista with one leg!). While she recently found a part time job from home, it is not enough to make ends meet.
A group of Nichole's friends are putting together this fund to help her financially and a SignUpGenius to help with childcare and a meal train to make sure she has good food to help her recover. You can follow the link below to sign up for shifts with Cobin or to cook a meal (gluten free, please!). https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C44A8A923ABF9C07-nichole
Anyone who knows Nichole knows that she is a wonderfully kind and giving person.
