Help Nicholas to be assessed by the PNP Center
Hi! I am Shannon Cassar and my son Nicholas is 22 years old with Cerebral Palsy, Autism and Schizophrenia. Due to his Autism and Schizophrenia he has taken and currently taking medication that makes him tired and depressed. I have been trying to work with his Dr.'s for several years and when one medication doesn't seem to work he is given another medicine and another and another.
Nicholas has the opportunity to be assessed by the world renown PNP Center in Dallas, TX, founded by Dr. Lawlis and Dr. Peavy (https://www.pnpcenter.com) in which they use state of the art equipment and diagnostics of his brain to determine if his diagnoses are correct and if he is taking the correct medication. Unfortunately, Nicholas's insurances does not cover this type of assessment. It's very costly. It's costs $9,000 total and in order for us to scheduled a two day assessment appointment we have to pay a deposit of $600 and then the balance of $8,400 when he arrives for the assessment.
I am hoping to raise these necessary funds so Nicholas can obtain some relief. His current Dr.'s have just been prescribing medication that does not seem to be helping. Nicholas has come to the point that he is depressed and has severe anxiety. Nicholas hears voices that tells him extremely negative information and he also has hallucinations. The Schizophrenia on top of the Autism and CP have been horribly difficult for Nicholas. His anxiety gets so bad that he often has hyperventilating attacks that can last for hours, literally.
With Nicholas being assessed by the PNP center they can see where on the Autism spectrum he lies and if he even has Schizophrenia. If he does have Schizophrenia they can find out what exactly is going on with is brain along with the proper medication that will work with his brain and metabolism. This is a wonderful opportunity to pin point exactly what is wrong with Nicholas and the solutions to help him. They use medication as a last resort instead of a first resort and that is what he needs.
I will do anything to help my boy get the proper medical treatment that he needs. Which means I am reaching out to anyone and everyone to see if they will donate for this opportunity for Nicholas. Unfortunately, my husband and I do not have the means to pay for this assessment. But I can do what it takes to raise some money and even try to get a second job to raise these funds for him.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Nicholas and the next step he needs to take to get properly diagnosed. God bless.
