Nicholas Lemelle is a Senior Percussionist at C.E. King High School in Houston Texas. After graduating high school he will attend college and major in music education, but first he will spend the summer marching in the Drum Corp International 2025 Tour.

We are raising money to help Nicholas with the tuition while he tours with one of the Drum and Bugle Corp in the World Class Division of the DCI.

What is the DCI?

From their website :

Drum Corps International delivers the message of “excellence in performance and in life” to more than 7.2 million young people, ages 13-22 involved in the performing arts across the United States.

What is Nicholas trying out for?

Drum Corp International is a governing body for drum and bugle corps in North America. In the World Class division of DCI there are 21 drum and bugle corps.

Of those 21 there are about three or four that Nicholas is trying out for a percussion position. These drum corp spend the summer touring around the country performing in marching band competitions. All leading up to the World Championships in Indianapolis Indiana where he will perform in Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts.

Why is this good for Nicholas?

DCI provides a place for Nicholas to work with a group of people that are all working toward the same goal, perfection at the highest level of competition in the country.

He will be spending all day, every day with his drum corp. They will eat, sleep, rehearse, perform and celebrate together. He will travel around the country working as a team and it will be impossible for him not to end the summer a better man.

What are the expenses Nicholas is raising money for?

The exact cost to participate in DCI varies from drum corp to drum corp. Tuition for World Class corps can be approximately $6,100. Travel and accommodations are included during the season, however Nicholas will also need to cover some of the following expenses:

Tryout Fee to each drum corp
Travel to and from in-person tryouts and camps
Personal needs/toiletries
