Last year, my son Nicholas suffered a critical injury in a high school football game that changed our lives. His leg was severely broken, and he’s endured multiple surgeries—some of which were complicated by surgical errors. He has also contracted multiple infections and missed an insurmountable amount of school. Since then, I’ve had to miss a lot of work to care for him, and our family has been struggling to keep up with the mounting costs of his care and recovery. We still need to purchase adaptive equipment, pay for ongoing physical therapy, cover legal bills, and make sure Nicholas gets the mental health support he needs after all he’s been through.


The financial strain has been overwhelming. Our utilities are close to being shut off, and I’m living paycheck to paycheck, trying to make sure Nicholas has what he needs to recover. The funds from this fundraiser will help us pay for his physical and mental health therapy, legal support, and supplement my lost income so I can continue to be there for him. Nicholas is a genuinely kind and outgoing kid who has suffered more than any child ever should. He’s been robbed of half his high school career and stripped of his chance to ever play sports again or even walk without pain. Allowing us the opportunity to focus solely on his recovery—without the fear of losing our house or having to choose between utilities and food—would be a blessing we would never take for granted.
