New update!
It has been two months since Nick received his new kidney from a living donor!
The last two months have been rough, but Nick has experienced noticeable improvements on his health both physically and mentally.
Nick's recovery is going well, but he cannot return to work until October. He continues to need our support. Your support will help cover the cost of 15 different medications, regular medical appointments, labs, and living expenses.
He wanted me to share with you that he is incredibly grateful for his second chance at life and for all your support!
Below is a brief recap of Nick's jouney to find a new kidney-
Last year, Nick found out that he had end-stage kidney failure. This means that Nick’s kidneys were no longer functioning at a normal level.
To make things even more complicated, Nick developed an intestinal infection which prompted a major surgery and a month in the hospital. During this time Nick's eligibility on the national kidney transplant list was paused.
The good news is that Nick recovered from the previous mentioned surgery and was able to have his ostomy bag removed, which involved another six weeks of recovery. He was then elgible once again to be on the national kidney transplant list.
Nick continued to work, but because of his health conditions and almost 20 hours spent recieving dialysis a week, he could only work minimal hours.
