My name is Nicholas, and I have spent my entire life working to overcome poverty. Since the age of 14, I have held multiple jobs and have not taken a single year off in the past 12 years. Despite my dedication and willingness to work more than 60 hours a week, I continue to struggle to afford even the most basic necessities. There have been times when my power was turned off, and the burden of unpaid bills has felt overwhelming, no matter how hard I tried to keep up. It is disheartening to work so hard and still find myself unable to afford groceries, cleaning supplies, or essential hygiene products.

In the summer of 2024, I lost my childhood home to city repossession. Now, on top of everything else, I am searching for a new place to live and trying to rebuild from the ground up. At 25 years old, living in Wausau, Wisconsin, I am determined to build a better future for myself and my loved ones. My greatest hope is to achieve financial stability so that one day I can provide a safe and secure environment for a family of my own. I also dream of traveling and experiencing the world beyond Wisconsin, but right now, these goals feel out of reach due to the ever-changing economy and rising costs of living.
