Help Nichol and Her Family Fight Cancer.

Donazione protetta
On behalf of Nichol, Aaron, & Logan Green.

Nichol was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Diffuse Large B Cell, a very aggressive form of cancer. Here is her story…

On December 21, 2018, after ~6 months of shoulder and neck pain, physical therapy, MRIs, x-rays, steroid injections, and emergency room visits, a chest x-ray revealed a large mass in her chest, just above the heart and between the lungs. She was sent immediately to the emergency room where she was admitted to the hospital and underwent several tests and a biopsy to determine it was cancer, specifically Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Chemotherapy started immediately. She had 6 rounds of chemotherapy followed by 20 days of radiation, which wrapped up in June 2019. During her rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, as she gained strength, Nichol managed to maintain her positive rapport with faculty, staff, administrators and students from around campus and continued to manage a heavy workload from both her home and the office. Her overwhelming appreciation, admiration, and love for Southern Miss never diminished during this time and was shown through her support of various events across campus…attending ceremonies, athletic events, and other on campus commemorations as she was able. During this time the tumor in the chest had a great response to the chemo, but in August 2019 a new mass was discovered and was determined to be a relapse of NHL.

This is the reason we write to you. Nichol now needs several new chemotherapy treatments called salvage chemotherapy, which require hospitalization. All of this will be followed by an autologous stem cell transplant, which requires 100 days of recovery, 4 weeks of which will be at UMC hospital in Jackson. Treatments and tests take place between Hattiesburg and Jackson, so there will be costs associated with travel, lodging, food, and the tests & procedures that insurance will not cover.

This family is thankful for all the love and support that has been shown on this journey so far! Nichol remains positive and knows that she will win this battle with the love and support of so many surrounding her. Most importantly, she is relying on her faith and the promise of hope and a future. Continue to keep Nichol and her family in your prayers as this process begins on August 26, 2019. And thank you for your love and support.

With love,
Family and Friends of Nichol, Aaron, & Logan.
