Mientras iba de camino a visitar a sus hermanos, nuestro papá Nicho sufrió un devastador accidente de carro. Fue golpeado de frente y abandonado por el otro conductor. Debido a sus graves heridas, fue trasladado en helicóptero a la sala de urgencias del hospital de Huntsville, a unos 90 minutos de nuestra casa.

Tras siete horas intentando estabilizarlo (y sin noticias previas), nuestra familia tuvo la suerte de verlo en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos. En ese par de minutos, nos informaron de que tenía una hemorragia interna en la zona abdominal y que el médico le había dejado el estómago abierto para colocarle un aspirador que bombearía la sangre desde su interior. También nos dijeron que tenía el fémur roto, la pelvis fracturada, el tobillo roto y dislocado, los dedos del pie dislocados y el talón roto. Todo esto para ser operado con múltiples cirugías que tardaran horas y requerirán un montón de tiempo, dinero y estancias en el hospital en Huntsville.

Como nuestro papá es el único sostén de su familia, mi mamá Yolanda está muy preocupada por la carga económica que les viene encima. Él pasará una buena cantidad de tiempo fuera del trabajo para tener cirugías, recuperarse, tener terapia, y sanar adecuadamente. Pedimos a nuestra familia, amigos y comunidad que ayuden a nuestros padres en este momento de necesidad. Cada contribución y cada share/compartir ayudará a nuestro papá a preocuparse solo en su sanación sin ningún estrés adicional.

***Estamos asumiendo que esto cubrirá alrededor de 6 meses de:

* biles de gas, agua y electricidad

* dinero para los altos copagos médicos

* el coste del seguro médico semanal

* Lonche/comida semanal

* gasolina y gastos de viaje al hospital y terapia

* el seguro de sus carros

Nuestro papá es un hombre que cree inquebrantablemente en el poder de Dios, la familia y la comunidad. Con la sonrisa más encantadora y la presencia más dulce y sincera, siempre ayuda a un extraño y ayuda a solucionar cualquier problema que haya por ahí. Es un esposo, padre, abuelo y hermano devoto y querido. Estamos muy agradecidos de tenerle todavía con nosotros. ❤️

Help Our Dad on His Road to Recovery after Devastating Car Accident

On the way to visit his brothers, our dad was involved in a devastating car accident. He was hit head-on and abandoned by the other driver. Due to his critical injuries, he was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital’s Emergency room, about 90 minutes from our home.

After seven hours of trying to stabilize him (and with no previous updates), our family was blessed enough to see him in the Intensive Care Unit. In those couple of minutes, we were informed that he had internal bleeding in the abdominal area and that the doctor left his abdomen open to place a vacuum that would pump blood out from his belly. We were also notified that he had a broken femur, a fractured pelvis, a broken and dislocated ankle, dislocated toes, and a broken heel. All this to be fixed with multiple, hours-long surgeries that will require an unknown amount of time, money, and hospital stays in Huntsville.

With our Dad being the sole breadwinner in his household, my Mom is extremely worried about the financial burden they will be facing. He will spend a significant amount of time off work to have surgeries, recover, have therapy, and heal properly. We are asking for our family, friends, and community to help our parents in this time of need. Every contribution and every share will help our Dad focus on healing without any additional stress.

***We are assuming this will cover about 6 months' worth of:

- gas, water, and electric utilities

- high medical co-pays

- the cost of weekly medical insurance

- weekly groceries

- gas and travel expenses to the hospital and therapy

- car insurance

Our dad is a man with an unwavering and steadfast belief in the power of God, family, and community. With the most charming smile and grounded presence, he always helps a stranger and helps fix any problem out there. He is a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother. We are so grateful to still have him with us. ❤️
