Hi Everyone,
This is an update on my son, Nic Rohs. He is on the road to recovery from alcohol and is achieving one goal at a time. We appreciate all of you for being so giving and caring.
Donations are still needed for medical bills that are continuing to grow. Please donate or send this to people you know who might be able to help out with this cause.
Nic and our family are optimistic that he will be in a new lifestyle - free of alcohol.
Hi my name is Linda Kowalko Rohs, the mother of Nic Rohs. Right now Nic is going through a very tough time - Alcohol detox and rehabilitation.
I will say this, Nic decided to enter detox and rehab on his own which makes me very proud. As he told me, he has been drinking alcohol since entering college at 18 years old and has continued for over twenty years. It changed the direction of his life. Since I live 2500 miles away, we talk every day to catch up. I didn't notice a difference in his demeanor. I didn’t know a thing about the drinking or the progression of the disease nor did I ever suspect otherwise. So when Nic told me he was going to get help for alcoholism, it came as a shock.
I'm sure many people know and understand this affliction. It isn't easy to say you are an alcoholic and most people don't see it as a disease - but it is. It's nothing to be ashamed of - it's a disease just like any other. Alcoholism attacks all your vital organs which leads to many other illnesses. I am so proud of him for recognizing the need to seek out help and is now proceeding with treatment.
I'm Nic’s greatest cheerleader. I know Nic. He is a fighter. When he was a little one, he was diagnosed with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), Dyslexia, and Depression along with a very high IQ and recently diagnosed with High Functioning Autism Spectrum. We were told by the doctors, college may not be the right choice but Nic proved the doctors wrong. He attended college and received 2 degrees and also graduated trade school. Nic is intelligent and strong-willed with a heart of gold. If someone needs something, no matter what it is he is there to help. Kindness, caring and being trustworthy are some of the qualities that easily show along with a great sense of humor. I know Nic will come out of this setback a stronger, happier person who will be able to continue onto a better lifestyle.
As some of you know, being on FMLA/disability isn't a regular paycheck. It's hard to catch up with your bills, plus medical bills on top of that. As for me, I am retired and living on a fixed income, therefore, I am unable to help financially.
That is why I am reaching out to all of you with this very difficult question to ask, “to please see it in your heart to consider donating to Nic’s NEW Start at Life. I am also asking you as mother and as a parent, who loves her child and will do anything to try to help in any situation. So please, if you can, donate something to help him get back on his feet and let Nic know that there are some very kind, caring and understanding people out in this world who knows what he is going through.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️
