Help Nic Beat Cancer.
Donation protected
Hi Friends, Family, and kind souls, My name is Jamey Macdonald. It pains me to even be writing this right now but my older brother Nicolas Macdonald has recently been diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. Nic went in for routine bloodwork on April 10th, 2023 and received a phone call that same night telling him he had to come immediately to the University of Alberta Hospital. There he underwent a Bone Marrow Biopsy and was diagnosed with Acute Leukemia. This form of Leukemia needs to be treated promptly and aggressively as it worsens quickly. Nic will be undergoing 4 weeks of intensive Chemotherapy treatment at the UofA hospital where he will have to be admitted for the duration of the treatment. Nic will be off work for a minimum of one year and we will update this with more information as we receive it.
Nic's wife Hilary and 17-month-old son Heath, are his world. Hilary was coming off Maternity leave and set to return to work in May, however, Heath had been displaying issues with his right hand prompting his pediatrician to order an MRI. In March Heath underwent an MRI and was diagnosed with having had a perinatal stroke in the left parietal region affecting his right side. This requires daily occupational therapy and weekly appointments at the Glenrose Hospital.
We are asking for help in supporting Nic, Hilary, and Heath during this difficult time. We greatly appreciate any donations which will go towards the family's living expenses.
