Help Our Beautiful Friend Nicole and Her Girls

We are a group of Nicole’s closest friends — Chon, Joelle, Natascha, Monique, Georgia, Kylie, and Nikki — who have all been lucky enough to call her a best friend since our high school days. Nicole has always been the heart of our group: kind, loyal, generous, and always the first to step up when someone else needed help.

Now, after so many years of giving to others, it’s Nicole who needs us.

Nicole’s Story

Nicole is a devoted single mum of two beautiful girls. After a 20-year marriage, Nicole walked away with no financial settlement and no assets, leaving her without a safety net. Since then, she’s been working incredibly hard — six days a week — just to keep a roof over her daughters’ heads and provide a safe and loving home.

Nicole has no financial cushion or backup. She is always down to just a few dollars before her next pay, with no ability to take a holiday, social time, or rest. She has been living hand-to-mouth, working constantly, and going without, just to keep her family afloat. This fundraiser is about giving Nicole the stability and breathing room she desperately needs due to a significant change in her already stressful circumstances.

In early August, Nicole was diagnosed with breast cancer. In just a few short weeks, her surgery has been scheduled for 27 August. Everything has happened so fast that her health and preparing for surgery had to take priority.

But now there is another urgent challenge: her rental has been sold, and she and the girls must move out by 1 October, only weeks after surgery. Nicole was also due to start a new job that she is excited about and will start now once she well.

One of Nicole’s daughters is undertaking online schooling due to mental health challenges, and her other daughter also needs stability during this time. Nicole knows how important it is to be at home more for them, but she has been forced to push herself working just to make ends meet.

A safe and secure home is absolutely essential for both of the girls’ wellbeing — and with her eldest daughter’s school in Warriewood, Nicole also needs to be somewhere with public transport access along the Northern Beaches, from Avalon to Manly, so they can get to school, medical appointments, and community support.

We, her friends, want to take some of the load off her shoulders by helping her secure a new rental and get moved while she recovers from surgery.

Nicole has always been there for others, with a smile that lights up every room. Life’s challenges have dimmed that light, but with your support, we can help her shine again.
