My name is Nia, and I never thought I’d be writing something like this. Recently, my home was flooded with over 18 inches of water on 1208 Boonehill Road, South Carolina. In just a short time, my daughter, husband, and I lost nearly everything—our furniture, food, clothing, and all of her school belongings. She’s only 3 years old, and as a full-time student myself, it breaks my heart not to be able to provide her with a stable and safe home right now.
Unfortunately, my landlord has said he doesn’t have the money to fix the damage, and because the water didn’t remain above 18 inches long enough, the Red Cross can’t step in to help us either. We truly have nowhere else to turn.
I’ve also had to make the painful decision to part with our two dogs, whom I’ve raised since they were puppies. This loss, on top of everything else, has been overwhelming.
I am asking for help—not just for me, but for my little girl. Any amount, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in helping us get back on our feet and rebuild some sense of normalcy. Even 50 cents or a dollar means the world to us.
Despite everything, I am grateful that we still have each other and our health. I just want to create a safe and stable environment for my daughter again.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading and for any support you can give.
With gratitude,
Nia
