Help Niamh get the medical care she desperately needs
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jade and I’m fundraising to help my friend get the medical care she desperately needs. Niamh is 21 years old and has a high level spinal cord injury caused by transverse myelitis making her an incomplete tetraplegic. This has led to complications with her bladder, bowel and digestive system. Niamh has lived with gastroparesis, intestinal dysmotility and slow colonic transit for years and it has finally reached a point where she is unable to orally maintain her nutrition. She cannot keep food or water down and her bowel cannot empty leading to complications such as severe autonomic dysreflexia which is causing her to have multiple life threatening seizures every day. Niamh is currently stuck in an NHS hospital living off the fluids and vitamins she recieves through a central line in her neck but she has currently been without any nutrition for 3 months. Unfortunately, due to a crumbling NHS Niamh is continually deteriorating whilst in hospital and there seems to be no treatment plan or plan to give her any quality of life back, which she had already spent years building up to the point where she was able to play wheelchair basketball in the u25 world championships for Great Britain last October. Niamh’s illness has caused her to have to drop out of university in the last semester of her third year and if it continues any longer it will take her basketball career too as she is incredibly weak and currently unable to play. Please donate to help us get Niamh private health care and give her her life back.
thank you
Jade
