My name is Nezzie, and I'm a 77-year-old mother and grandmother facing a critical battle with colon cancer. I would love to return to teaching my art and sewing classes but first I must take care of my health!

On February 3rd, 2025, I will undergo a colon cancer surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas – one of the world's leading cancer treatment facilities. 

This surgery will determine the staging of my cancer and the path forward for my treatment. 

 THE CHALLENGE 

 Living on a fixed income, I find myself struggling to cover the mounting expenses that come with cancer treatment. While Medicare helps with some medical costs, there are many essential expenses it doesn't cover and every time you turn around they change it up.

THE REQUEST 

 Travel expenses to Houston, including airfare and local transportation Lodging near MD Anderson for pre-operative care (approximately 5 days of testing) Medical supplies especially medical equipment not covered by insurance Daily living expenses during my stay in Houston (pre-op) Co-pays and deductibles for medical care etc... 

WHY MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER? 

MD Anderson Cancer Center is renowned for its exceptional cancer care and expertise in complex cases. Their specialized team offers the best chance for successful treatment and recovery. However, traveling to Houston from home represents a significant financial burden. 

THE IMMEDIATE NEED

 I need to raise roughly $9,000 to cover: 

Travel expenses to Houston, including airfare and local transportation Lodging near MD Anderson for pre-operative care (approximately 5 days of testing)
