Help Newton Get Lifesaving Heart Surgery

Donation protected
After losing our beloved cat Poe to aggressive cancer last year, it took us almost a year to be ready to let another kitten into our lives to help fill the big hole Poe left in our hearts.

On March 27, we found Newton, a sweet 5-month-old tuxedo kitten who immediately brought warmth and light back into our lives. With his playful energy, games of fetch with his fishy, endless kisses, and constant cuddles, he quickly became a perfect piece of our family.

Just two weeks after bringing him home, a routine vet visit revealed a large heart murmur. We were referred to a cardiologist, and after a series of tests, we received the worse case scenario: Newton has a congenital heart defect called Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and is already in heart failure. His prognosis without surgery is less than a year, most likely months or weeks, to live. We are devastated.

Thankfully, there is hope. Newton has been approved for heart surgery at OSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital which is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30. The timing has left us emotionally and financially overwhelmed, especially after navigating Poe’s cancer treatments not so long ago.

We never expected to be on this journey again so soon. While it’s difficult to ask for help, and we went back and forth about setting this up, we are reaching out in hope of easing some of the financial burden for Newton’s surgery and travel-related expenses. Any support you can offer — whether it’s a donation or simply sharing Newton’s story — means the world to us.

Thank you for helping us give Newton a fighting chance at a full and happy life.
