Who would have thought that after being born at 27 weeks, having level I and II brain hemorrhaging, being retained in the 5th grade, and currently a student with a learning disability that I would be accepted into a prestigious college program? I was born the smallest and most sickly of a set of triplets. However, my mom and stepdad have been working hard to ensure that I have every opportunity to experience the things that children without disabilities experience. They both have always told me I can do whatever I want. Attending the pre-college program at Brown College means so much to me. It shows me that I can overcome any obstacle that I encounter. I always wondered if I could pursue "difficult" dreams because I always struggled in school. In fact, I was nervous about even applying to the program. Who would have ever imagined that the baby born at 1 lb. 12 oz. who spent 105 days in the NICU and the first 3 years in the hospital would be accepted in such a prestigious program? So many students applied, and they CHOSE ME!!
To take advantage of this opportunity I must raise funding to register for my classes. I would like to take a 4-6 week course. To take the courses it would cost $6,000. Any help you can offer would be amazing. Consider a donation of at least $25 or ANY amount that you believe will help me experience this rare opportunity. You can also support me by sharing this campaign on social media and your network of people. Thank you in advance for helping this dream come true. Below is some information about the program I was accepted into!
Brown Pre-College Programs are designed for high school students to replicate the authentic college experience. You’ll enjoy the freedom and responsibility that comes from managing your own time while balancing challenging academics and enriching social activities—without the pressure of formal grades.
In one of our 1- to 6-week courses, you’ll get to know the best of Brown: We’re an Ivy known for our embrace of independent thinkers—one that values and respects student voices. Whether you choose on-campus, online, or one of our location-based programs, you’ll experience the rigors of college-level classes as you study alongside peers from around the world who are as motivated and curious as you are.
