My name is Trisha, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my grandparents, Nestor and Linda — two of the most generous and loving people in my life. My grandad Nestor, now 83, has been navigating serious health challenges for years, and today he is in the fight of his life.
Six years ago, his health shifted dramatically when he went into kidney failure, beginning a long journey of regular dialysis. Even as his body weakened, his resolve never did. He has shown unfaltering resilience, grace, and a quiet determination that has inspired everyone around him.
Recently, after a routine dialysis session, everything changed. He developed pneumonia, a high fever, and soon after he began having severe difficulty breathing. My grandma Linda rushed him to the hospital, where he has remained in the ICU. She has been at his bedside ever since.
As of now, the situation remains critical. Nestor’s lungs are still filled with fluid, and despite additional dialysis, new IV antibiotics, and ongoing interventions, his body is not responding the way his doctors hoped. He continues to be ventilated and intubated, supported by an NGT tube for nutrition. We are praying — wholeheartedly — that he stabilizes, recovers, and eventually gets his intubation removed. But in the meantime, he needs to remain in the ICU for an indefinite period.
With each day in critical care, the costs escalate. Healthcare in the Philippines is extremely expensive, and ICU care, ventilation, medications, and continuous monitoring come with significant financial pressure. My grandparents live very modestly, relying on their pension and small side jobs to cover basic needs. This situation is far beyond what they can manage on their own.
Nestor has been a provider all his life — a devoted husband, a loving father, and the most steady father figure my sister and I could ever hope for. He has poured so much into our family, and now we find ourselves needing to rally around him.
As we approach the holidays, this uncertainty weighs heavily on all of us — emotionally, physically, and financially. Any support, whether through a donation, a share, or even a prayer, creates meaningful impact and helps us continue fighting alongside him.
From our family to yours, thank you for standing with us during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness means more than we can express. Thank you.
