Hello, my name is Nessie and I am humbly asking for help as my furry family navigates through this very stressful, time consuming, and financially straining situation of ringworm infection.
After barely moving into our first apartment , my husband and I decided to expand our family and adopt a kitten from San Bernardino Animal Shelter. We named him "SALEM" . My two year old cats name is "RAZAN".
Disappointingly they failed to disclose that the kitten I adopted had ringworm. And now both of the animals in my house are infected with ringworm. As one can imagine, this has turned my entire life upside down. The stress and pain in my heart is unimaginable as I now have to isolate 2 cats that are infected with this tricky and hard to rid fungi, leaving everyone in the house heartbroken and traumatized. Every day is a struggle, and all I wanted was to give a kitten a new home and love them, unknowingly bringing upon one of the most emotionally tolling and draining tribulations of my life.
The financial toll this has on our family is incredibly difficult and scary to navigate. We are spending money that we do not have and are now in debt.
We have already had to spend close to $1200 dollars in expensive veterinary hospital bills for treatment, tests and medication, disinfectant supplies, PPE, disposable products for the animals, 2 cages, paying for laundry to be washed in washroom almost every day, a vacuum to suck up spores to prevent reinfection, and gas to transport to the hospital and shelter. I am worried about how we will pay for our necessities for the duration of the treatment which will be a minimum of 6 weeks , but I am very fearful it will persist as it is a very tricky thing to get rid of.
The mental anguish our family is being put through is causing me a great amount of emotional distress as I have no experience with treating ringworm. I am constantly cleaning the entire house, cleaning the isolation room, tending to animals, doing laundry, researching; this has consumed my entire life as I have to take care of and heal my cats.
This news was thrown upon our family while I am healing from a semi-invasive medical procedure, forcing me to unfortunately put my health aside to care for our animals. I will have to have another surgery in May.
Every day is a new battle and I am barely sleeping, barely eating, and have no time to do the things I love to do like art or cooking. I am a wreck emotionally and physically as this consumes me. Not to mention, hearing my animals cry for me tears me into pieces. Some days are better than others, but this has mostly been full of pain and emotional distress. This is having a horrible affect on my mental and physical health, especially since I am already dealing with pre existing medical issues and trying to get a handle on my life long struggles with mental health issues and a recent diagnosis of BPD.
Please, we are asking for any help that you can give us as I need to continue paying for medication, CareCredit debt, PPE equipment, tests at the vet, and disposables etc ,.
This is a very desperate time in our lives and we are reaching out for help, which is very hard for me. If you cannot donate we totally understand, times are very hard, but I appreciate you reading and viewing this and if you can possibly share that would help us too.
