On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Jamaica was struck by the most devastating hurricane in its history. Hurricane Melissa swept across the island with overwhelming force, destroying homes, flooding communities, and leaving many families without electricity, clean water, or a safe place to return to.
Among those deeply affected was the family of our dear friend, Neshawn.
Although she now lives in Canada, her heart is always with her loved ones in Jamaica. She has been supporting them for years, doing everything she can to help with monthly expenses and daily needs. Now, as they face the difficult task of rebuilding their lives, her support has become more critical than ever.
What makes this even harder is that Neshawn has already had a very challenging year. She has faced several personal losses and setbacks that would weigh heavily on anyone. Yet through it all, she continues to show strength, humour, and warmth. If you met her, you would never guess the weight she carries because she has a way of lighting up every room she enters.
Since immigrating to Canada, Neshawn has become a true part of the Edmonton community. She has worked hard, studied, and given her best every step of the way. Now, she is the one who needs a helping hand.
Her family in Jamaica is currently without electricity and is beginning the long process of rebuilding. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping them restore their home and regain stability.
If you are able, please consider supporting this incredible family during an unimaginable time. Your kindness will make a real difference.
Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
