Help Nerlande Pay For School

These past five years have taught me so much about myself and what I am capable of. With help from so many people around me, I have been able to grow more into the strong young adult that I am now and prevent my insecurities, as well as my past, define me as a whole. I have had to deal with getting kicked out of my mother’s home at the end of my 8th-grade year, going to family court hearings every couple of months, living with my grandparents for a considerable amount of time, going to therapy, and then being sent back to my mother’s my junior year. I have been fighting against depression and anxiety for a while now. There have been days I didn’t think that I would have made it to the next chapter of my life, and it was a lot to handle. And being with my mother wasn’t easy; we didn’t have a close relationship. Trying to be my mother’s version of perfection only did more damage than good. 

So, as I got older, I learned to be proud of my accomplishments. I joined plays, community organizations during the summer, competed in both Poetry and Monologue Competitions, and more! I am proud of how far I have made it and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me in the future! 

I am currently attending Johnson & Wales University, majoring in Media & Communications with a minor in Psychology. I wasn’t able to finish out my freshman year because I currently have a financial hold on my account of about $7k that has to be paid before the start of this coming 2021-22 school year. I have tried to find other ways in making ends meet and paying this balance off but it hasn’t worked out in my favor. Neither of my parents are willing to help me pay off the balance, so I am on my own. With that, I’d like to take this time and ask for your help; whether it be by donating or spreading the word to anyone you know willing to donate. My plan is to not only pay this balance off but also finish my freshmen year off strong and prove to not only myself but also those around me that anyone can overcome any obstacle that life throws towards them. We are in control of our destiny!
