Help Nerf Heal with Support for Emergency Vet Expenses

Donation protected
TL;DR: Our sweet Nerf and Wilson are facing a veterinary emergency this week that total more than $10,000 so far. Any amount helps. Thanks for all your support, friends!

Nerf Millure has had a month! After spending Christmas recovering from what seemed like conjunctivitis, he took a turn for the worse in the New Year with new, life-threatening symptoms. On Monday, Nerf was rushed to the emergency vet because he had stopped urinating. They determined that he had bladder inflammation and abnormal blood work, but they weren't able to pinpoint a cause.

Nerf was admitted on Tuesday to a speciality clinic, Blue Pearl, that has continued to provide care and conduct extensive testing, finding inflammation in multiple organs. They were able to remove a urinary blockage during a catheter procedure this afternoon – these can be fatal, so we are so thankful they found and removed it in time. They're keeping him admitted through Friday while they monitor his condition and work to find its cause.

Our hope is that Nerf has something more benign (feline idiopathic cystitis) and will be able to move toward recovery on medication after his catheter procedure, without the need for surgery. Please keep Nerf in your thoughts and send good energy for the best case scenario!

Nerf is fortunate to be receiving expert care at an amazing clinic with an interdisciplinary team of vets — but this care comes at a cost. The current bill is more than $10,000. Anyone who knows Wilson knows that they would be willing to go to the ends of the Earth (and pay any amount) to ensure Nerf's recovery. But I'm hoping friends and loved ones of Nerf and Wilson can come together to make this burden a little lighter for them. Any amount helps and will go directly toward Nerf's veterinary bill.

For those who don't know Nerf's lore: This very special boy — widely loved for his gentleness, impressive agility, and human soul — found the most loving of homes when he was a year old, after being rescued as a stray. He had been subsisting off of stale pizza crusts and needed to have one leg amputated. The little-tripod-who-could adores his cozy home where he gets to spend time with his new brother, Mango; watch bird TV; and have his hair misted and brushed like the cat model he is. Let's get him home soon so he can enjoy many more (hopefully uneventful) years.
