Help Nerd Chapel with Travel Expenses

Greetings scholars and warriors!

My name is Eric Anderson. I started Nerd Chapel as a blog and youtube channel in 2013. In 2015 Nathan Marcand and I released our first devotinal book. Now we have 3 and I have a website for Nerd Chapel and attend around 15 events a year. I approach this ministry as a writer rather than an orgaization because creative voices have a healthy place in Nerd Culture, espeically when we approach with gentleness and grace. I have found many oppotunities to share Jesus in a gentle way and I plan on continuing this ministry as long as God keeps me in it.

This year I have some added travel expenses, mostly due to a trip to the Nerd Ministry Culture Summit in Texas this November. This means flight and hotel costs. I also have several cons away from home which will need hotel costs. My co-author Nate will hopefully also be involved with at least 2 of these events but his funds are limited just like most humans. 

Sept. 1-3rd I have a booth for Nerd Chapel at GrandCon Gaming Convention and I'm leading a Nerd Chapel on Sunday morning. Because I'm at the con until late at night playing games and interacting with people, and then start early in the morning I always get a hotel for this show. That is 2 nights in a hotel. They did not do low cost tables this year so I had to pay more than normal to be at it but it is a significant show for Nerd Chapel with a healthy history. I am currently planning on staying with a group to save money. 

Main Event: November 7-10 I will be flying down to the Nerd Culture Ministry Summit; an event hosted by Love Thy Nerd and Lux Digital Church. The conference is generously allowing each ministry a free +1 to bring another person. Right now the plan is for Nate to go with me. That is flight for 2 people and hotel for about 4 nights. I plan on flying out the afternoon/night before it starts so I can work the day before but still be there for theopening morning meetings. This will mean taking time off work because it is a mid week event (Wed.-Fri.). If we can afford it we will spend an extra night or two and do some sightseeing that weekend but the main focuse for this fundraiser is the main nights and flights for the event.

December 1-3 I have a table at GalaxyCon Columbus and plan on doing a Nerd Chapel there as I did last year. Perhaps I'll do another panel of some type as well. This would be 3 nights in a hotel. This is an expensive table (hundreds of dollars). 

It is quite common for writers to lose money when tabling at cons due to high table costs and the costs of traveling. I often use my own money to keep this going. I do also have a Patreon account to help with funds. That can be found here if you want support this on a monthly basis.
