Support emergency relief and recovery for families affected by the August 2026 floods in Nepal
On August 26, 2026, a catastrophic flash flood swept through Nepal’s Rasuwa District and communities along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers.
With little warning, a powerful surge of water, mud, ice and rock destroyed homes, roads, bridges, businesses and hydropower facilities. Families have lost loved ones, homes and essential belongings, while rescue teams continue searching for hundreds of people who remain missing.
As of August 26, authorities had reported at least 167 deaths in Nepal. Preliminary assessments also found that 19 motorable bridges and approximately 40 kilometers of roadway had been destroyed. These figures remain provisional and are expected to change as rescue teams reach isolated communities and communication is restored.
ARC for Nepal is raising $10,000 to help affected families meet urgent needs and begin recovering.
How Your Donation Will Help
Final allocations will be based on verified assessments from affected communities, local governments and disaster-response organizations. Donations may support:
- Food and safe drinking water
- Temporary shelter and essential household supplies
- Medical, sanitation and hygiene supplies
- Transportation and delivery of emergency assistance
- Direct support for verified affected families
- Early recovery needs identified by affected communities
We will update this fundraiser as specific communities, local organizations and relief activities are confirmed.
How We Will Coordinate the Response
ARC for Nepal is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our Nepal-based sister organization and implementation partner, the Rajendra Anjana Foundation, will help coordinate the response within Nepal.
Rajendra Anjana Foundation will coordinate with local government representatives, recognized disaster-response agencies and vetted local relief organizations to:
- Confirm the most urgent needs
- Identify qualified local organizations and suppliers
- Verify affected communities and proposed recipients
- Coordinate purchases and distributions
- Document how donations are used
No funds will be distributed to an individual or organization until the recipient, purpose and delivery process have been verified.
Financial and Legal Accountability
Donations will be collected and overseen by ARC for Nepal in the United States.
Before funds are transferred into Nepal, ARC for Nepal and the Rajendra Anjana Foundation will complete the applicable approval, banking and reporting requirements established by Nepal’s Social Welfare Council and other relevant authorities.
Funds entering Nepal will be transferred through authorized banking channels and used only for approved flood-relief and recovery activities. Transfers and expenditures will be documented through financial records, receipts, distribution reports and partner confirmations.
Because government approvals and local verification may require time, funds will be released only after the required compliance steps and a responsible distribution plan are in place.
Our Commitment to Donors
We will share updates throughout the campaign, including:
- The total amount raised
- Payment-processing and campaign expenses
- Social Welfare Council approval progress
- Amounts transferred into Nepal
- Local governments and relief organizations involved
- Communities and types of assistance supported
- Distribution records, photographs and receipts when appropriate and safe
Funds raised through this campaign will be restricted to relief, recovery and disaster-preparedness work connected to the August 2026 Nepal floods. If donations exceed immediate relief needs, remaining funds will support longer-term recovery and disaster preparedness in affected Nepalese communities.
