My name is Yashu Thapa and I am a 19 year Nepalese American devastated by the news of the catastrophic flash flood that occurred on August 26, 2026, at the Rasuwagadhi border, surging towards the north-central parts of Nepal. My fathers birthplace, Nuwakot, was unfortunately among the areas affected by this devastating disaster. Knowing that a place so deeply connected to my family has been impacted makes this tragedy feel especially personal to me.

There are thousands of families who have lost their children, mothers, fathers, friends, siblings, and many people very close to them, gone within seconds. Many are now facing unimaginable circumstances, with homes destroyed and limited access to electricity, food, clean water, and many other basic necessities. Communities are struggling to recover while families are desperately trying to find safety and support.

Right now I am doing my best to raise awareness and educate my friends, neighbors, family, and community about what is happening. However I alone am not enough. During a time like this, community and unity matter more than ever.

All funds raised through this fundraiser will be donated to the Government of Nepal’s Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund, which is supporting relief efforts for those affected by this disaster. The official donation portal is operated through Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL), and the Government of Nepal has provided this portal as an official way for international donors to contribute.
