Neo is our 16-month-old rescue cat, and he’s been a beloved part of our family since we took him in at just five weeks old. My kids and I would be lost without him—he brings so much joy and comfort to our lives. For a while, we thought Neo was struggling with hairballs, so we switched his food and tried to help him feel better. But last night, everything changed. As we were getting ready for bed, we noticed Neo was having trouble breathing. Within minutes, he was gasping for air, his mouth open and wheezing. By the time we got him to the emergency vet, he was starting to bubble from the mouth because he couldn’t breathe. The vet team rushed him in, put him on oxygen, and began running tests right away. It was terrifying to watch, and I was told that without immediate payment, they couldn’t provide treatment. I had to put the emergency bill on my charge card, which was already almost maxed out from recent car repairs.
After a series of tests, we learned that Neo actually suffers from asthma, and what we thought were hairball issues were really asthma attacks. This time, things got so severe because he had aspirated into his right lung, which was turning into pneumonia. Neo is now recovering, but he’ll need ongoing vet care and medication for his asthma, as well as a follow-up visit next week to monitor his pneumonia. I hate asking for help, but I can’t afford to pay this back on my own, and I want to make sure Neo gets the care he needs to stay healthy. Any support to help cover his emergency medical costs and future treatments would mean the world to us. Thank you for reading Neo’s story and for any help you can give.
