Hi friends and family,

We are members of the high school class of 1985 from La Salle Academy, Iligan City in the  Philippines, who have come together to help our dear classmate, Nenet Arlante, support her fight against breast cancer.  Nenet is single and her family does not have the means to support her treatment.  She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018 and her doctors advised to undergo a surgery to remove her breast.  This treatment is the most aggressive but also the most effective way to stop the spread of the cancer.  

However, her mother became very ill at the same time and Nenet, being the dutiful and selfless daughter that she is, decided to postpone her treatment in order to take care of her bed-bound mother.  She took care of her mother until her passing in 2019.

Only then did Nenet continue her own fight against cancer and she received chemotherapy treatments.  Because her financial resources have been significantly reduced by this time, she availed of mostly free chemo treatments through government programs at the regional hospital in Cagayan de Oro City (a 1.5 hour physically exhausting trip from her hometown of Iligan City). Despite these challenges, Nenet kept her fighting spirit and she never lost her sense of humor.  

Then the global pandemic hit the Philippines last year and with the COVID-19 travel ban, Nenet's chemotherapy treatments came to a halt.  As a result, the cancer in her breasts was unchecked and she was suffering from excruciating pain.  Then she learned that her cancer has metastasized into her lungs and bones. 

We are asking for your financial contribution to help Nenet feel that she is not alone in her struggle against breast cancer.  We want Nenet to know that her classmates are by her side during the course of her struggle!  Every dollar counts and will go a long way to improve her comfort.
